Well frozen black peat with the unique effect of "mellowness due to frost" has a high pore volume, a high exchange capacity and stronger pH buffering than white peat. The most important product is substrate for pressed pots used for growing vegetables. Black peat is ideally suitable for this because of its good ability to be processed using machines.
